RingCentral provides hosted business telephone and fax services that enable professionals and small businesses to effectively manage communications and project a professional image to customers, partners and prospects. RingCentral’s award-winning, feature-rich services integrate PSTN, VoIP, cellular, email, voicemail, fax, SMS and the Internet into a unified package that improves productivity, lowers costs and improves customer response.

Feature Set

Security Features
RingCentral Fax provides you with a secure web portal that requires a username and password to access. Once into your account you can attach digital signatures to your faxes and send them via PGP encryption for maximum security. Outbound attachments are converted and therefore can also be encrypted. One excellent feature is the ability to setup filters to allow or deny faxes depending on various rules you can setup. This is great for blocking spam faxes which can seriously eat up your free fax allowance.

Sending Faxes
Faxes can be sent from the web portal via any internet enabled device or from the desktop via the bundled Call Controller software. Cover sheets can be created and edited using the FaxEditor tool which also allows you to embed signatures.

Plugins
The bundled software: Call Controller allows you to send faxes from any application that supports printing and integrates directly with Microsoft Office. The software will pull fax details from Outlook so there is no need to maintain 2 contact lists.

Recieving Faxes
Fax alerts can be sent either your email or your mobile as a text message.

Additional Features
Faxes can be stored online for 30 days but can also be downloaded to your PC and kept forever. The web portal allows you to track and monitor fax traffic via fax logs.

RingCentral Fax offers 3 packages in the US, Canada and the UK:

US and Canada

Additionally, Toll free 800 numbers and Vanity numbers require a one-time setup fee of $30.

Additional fax numbers on the same account cost $4.99 each.

United Kingdom

There is a one-off setup fee for toll free 0800 and national local rate 0845 numbers of £10.

Additional fax numbers on the same account cost £2.50 each.

Ease of Use

With RingCentral Fax it is possible to be up and running in under 5 minutes! And that includes installing the optional desktop software. We are not huge fans of installed software to support web applications, however, CallController has a lot to recommend it. The integration with Outlook means all your clients fax numbers are already at your fingertips and the fax alerts keep you informed of the progress of your faxes.

Customer Support

RingCentral Fax offer a good set of customer support options: These include user guides, FAQs, webinars and tutorials. For more direct contact, there is a support email and you can call support on a toll free number. The last option is a slight letdown however, as the service is outsourced and the answers given are obviously scripted.

RingCentral Fax have a great feature: when you signup you can actually choose your number rather than being assigned one. Nice touch!

Summary

RingCentral Fax has great integration. Offers a range of products to suit most people's needs. Includes the all-important cover page editor and handles a good number of file types for attachments. In our tests they were also one of the fastest when it came to delivering faxes. Their range of customer support services are good, although we would prefer to see inhouse telephone support rather than outsourced scripted support. It is worth mentioning that we had no actual need to contact customer services as the product is very easy to use and we had absolutely no problems with it. All in all RingCentral is a great product.
